Buddha and Badass

Buddha and Badass

The cover design for Buddha Badass by Vishen Lakhiani - a book that went on to become a bestseller across major global lists, including Amazon, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today.

About

Book cover design created for Buddha Badass by Vishen Lakhiani - later recognized across major bestseller lists including Amazon, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today.

Buddha and the Badass s a bold personal development book that challenges conventional ideas about spirituality and success. The concept merges mindfulness with unapologetic ambition, inviting readers to embrace both inner awareness and external impact. I was responsible for designing the book cover - translating the book’s unconventional philosophy into a visual identity that would stand out in a competitive personal development market while staying aligned with Mindvalley’s premium brand standards. Several design directions were explored during the process, and the final cover was ultimately selected as the winning concept through audience feedback.

The Challenge

Most grocery brands lean into function. Belly Deli needed to feel boutique, curated, and instantly memorable.

The store was launching in a high-traffic, high-expectation neighborhood. Surrounded by international schools and expat-friendly cafés, the brand needed to feel modern, warm, and elevated - with visual cohesion across every touchpoint.

The challenge: how do you make a grocery store feel as stylish and inviting as a lifestyle brand - without losing its everyday utility?

Solution

My approach focused on creating a strong visual contrast that mirrors the philosophy of the book.

Rather than relying on typical meditation imagery or minimalist typography, the direction emphasized confidence, clarity, and impact. Typography plays a central role in establishing the tone of the book. The title is treated with strong visual hierarchy to create immediate recognition and impact, while the supporting elements remain refined and clean.

The final composition delivers a design that feels:

  • Bold but not aggressive.

  • Modern, yet classy

  • Spiritual without being cliché

This balance was essential to communicate the book’s unique positioning within the personal growth space.

Have You Ever Noticed How Some People Have All the Luck at Work?

They generate ideas on the fly. They magnetically attract the right people. Others crave joining their missions, their companies, their teams. They move with fluidity and ease, nailing projects with a smile on their face. Getting the coveted raises and promotions. These superstars are often able to get in the zone, displaying remarkable focus and creativity. They are masters of relationships, forging close ties with their teams and everyone around them. When they do business, it’s about win-win. And one of the most unique qualities they seem to have is remarkable luck. Things just go easy for them. It seems like the Universe bends in their favor.

This book is about how to join them.

From the New York Times Bestselling Author of The Code of the Extraordinary Mind comes a new book about awakening the twin powers of the Buddha--the spiritual master--and the Badass--the changemaker who challenges the status quo. You already have both inside you. Once awakened, they will transform the way you work.
